What is Feng Shui?

What is Feng Shui?

Feng Shui is the art and science of being in harmony with your living space. It helps you use nature's forces to avoid negative energy and improve your health, wealth and relationships.

Chinese came to the conclusion that everything is energy and that energy is interconnected. Now the science has also come to the same conclusion – many thousands of years after the Chinese discovery.

Feng Shui developed around 6,000 years ago from the observations of Chinese of the nature's cyclic movements. Chinese understood that certain energies of nature can affect their well-being and that it is possible to direct nature's forces to improve all the areas of life.

Feng Shui not only helps you improve your living space, but it also helps you understand yourself better.

There are two classical methods of Feng Shui: Eight House and Flying Star. These methods can be used to find the best place for your furniture and even find the house that is in harmony with your chi energy.

By changing the placement of your furniture and making other minor adjustments, you will get in harmony with your living space. This will bring you better health and more positive emotions.

Numbers play an important role in Feng Shui. The importance of numbers in Feng Shui originated from the fact that the workings of nature are very exact. For example, there are 5 steep and 8 gradual spirals on pinecones and artichokes, there are 8 and 13 gradual and 21 steep spirals on a pineapple and there are many more examples of exact numbers in nature.

The masters of feng shui believe that each tragic event, such as the World Trace Center attack, could have been avoided by applying Feng Shui. Each event has a number associated with it and each number has its own meaning.

Hopefully now you can answer the question "What is Feng Shui?". Here are some more interesting facts about this art.

Many people are confused about the pronunciation of Feng Shui. It is pronounced “Fung Schway”.

The most important tool of Feng Shui is a compass. Although there is a proper Feng Shui compass, called luopan, a basic traditional compass is also great for Feng Shui.

Feng Shui involves the understanding and use of the five elements, called the phases of chi (fire, earth, metal, water and wood). If properly used, these elements will transform any house into a harmonious one, bringing better relationships and more wealth.

Feng Shui can only be used to improve situations. It cannot do harm to anyone because this art only involves working with positive energies. If a person with negative attitude tries to use Feng Shui, it will never work. Therefore if you are angry or hate others, you should firstly change your emotions and only then use Feng Shui.

Feng Shui is not a superstition, philosophy or religion.

According to Chinese, each house has it's own personality. The purpose of Feng Shui is to use the nature's forces to harmonize the relationship between you and your house.
